Bat Colony Removal in Lander

We install custom one-way exclusion devices at every entry point on the structure. Bats exit naturally but cannot return. The colony vacates in 5 to 10 days depending on size and season. After the colony has left, we remove the devices and seal every opening permanently. No trapping, no poison, no harm to the bats. Every exclusion complies with Wyoming Game and Fish regulations and federal bat protection law.

Wyoming Wildlife Specialists serves homeowners and businesses in Lander, Fremont County, and across all of Wyoming. Call (307) 522-1433 to schedule a phone consultation. Wyoming Game and Fish regulations and federal bat protection law govern every removal we perform.

About Lander and the West Central Wyoming

Lander is a city in Fremont County at 5,357 feet, situated where the Popo Agie River emerges from the Wind River Range foothills into the Wind River Basin. The Popo Agie corridor, nearby Sinks Canyon State Park, and the canyon systems entering the city from the mountains create diverse bat foraging habitat close to residential areas. Lander is a gateway to the Wind River Range backcountry and retains historic residential and commercial buildings from its late 19th-century founding.

Little brown bats and big brown bats are common in Lander structures. The canyon bat populations of the Wind River Range foothills can move into town structures near the mountain interface, and Townsend's big-eared bats have been documented in cave and mine habitats in the surrounding canyons.

What is included

  • Full property inspection. We inspect the full structure to locate every entry point before any work begins. No guesswork, no missed openings.
  • Custom one-way devices. Each exclusion device is custom-fitted to the specific opening. Bats exit naturally but cannot re-enter.
  • 5 to 10 day vacate window. Once devices are installed, the colony clears the building within 5 to 10 days under normal conditions.
  • Written warranty. If bats re-enter through any point we sealed, we return at no charge. Every exclusion is warranted.

Common questions

Why can't I just seal the bats in or use poison?

Sealing bats inside is illegal under Wyoming and federal law. Poison is prohibited for bats entirely. Humane one-way exclusion is the only legal method and the only method that works permanently.

When is the best time to do bat removal in Wyoming?

Spring (March through May) and late summer through fall (August 15 through October) are the two ideal windows in Wyoming. We do not do exclusions during the maternity season when flightless pups are present, roughly June through mid-August, because sealing exits during that period traps juveniles inside.

How long does the process take?

After devices are installed, the colony clears in 5 to 10 days. We then return to remove devices and permanently seal every opening. Total project time is typically one to two weeks depending on colony size and weather.
